“Exclusive Bombshell: Sydney Roosters’ Key Player Set to Depart! Shocking Announcement Sends Waves Through NRL Community – Details Inside!”

“I will always be grateful to wear the Roosters jersey.”

The Sydney Roosters have announced that Joseph Manu would depart the club at the end of the season to explore a fresh opportunity in a different discipline.

Manu informed the Roosters on Tuesday that he will switch to rugby union and sign with Toyota Verblitz (a Japanese rugby team).

The move comes after he smashed the record for most run meters in a single game against the Knights last Thursday, replacing the concussed James Tedesco.

In February, the 2022 Golden Boot winner and New Zealand international said that he was considering departing for rugby union.

Manu grew up playing in the 15-man code and wants to challenge himself in the sport. He is the second Rooster to make the cross-code transition, following in the footsteps of colleague and childhood friend Joseph Suaalii.

“I have cherished my time playing rugby league for the Roosters so it’s been a tough decision to leave the club and NRL,” Manu said.

“I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity to wear the Roosters shirt, as well as to everyone who has encouraged and presented me with wonderful possibilities.

“While I’m excited to embrace the challenge of playing rugby in Japan, right now I am focused on finishing this year strongly and performing at my very best for the Roosters.”

Roosters head coach Trent Robinson congratulated Joseph Manu for his time at the club and wished him well in the 15-man code.

“Joey has been open about his desire to experience the challenge of living overseas with his young family, and of playing in a different environment, so while we are sad to see him go, we fully support him,” he said.

“Joey will always be a rooster. He is extremely clear about what he wants to accomplish this season, and we look forward to discussing the year ahead.”
