Full 2024 Detroit Lions uniforms revealed, including all-black color rush

A first-look photo gallery of all of the Detroit Lions’ new uniform combinations.

Following the unintended leak of their new jerseys earlier in the day, the Detroit Lions unveiled their entire uniform set on Thursday night at Ford Field in front of a gathering of journalists and season ticket holders.

While the majority of Detroit’s uniform alterations were minor (e.g., adding a few stripes and making a more significant adjustment to the jersey typeface), the most important development was the reintroduction of black uniforms. The black jerseys were unveiled earlier in the day, but with the entire release, Detroit revealed a set of black pants to go with that uniform, which is capped with the team’s blue-chrome alternate helmet, which has seen a few new adjustments.

According to team insiders, black jerseys were among the most requested improvements. Detroit formerly had black jerseys after a 2003 reveal, but after one of the worst eras in Lions football under former general manager Matt Millen, the team pulled them from the rotation with their 2017 uniform release.

The biggest difference between the old and new black uniforms is that the numbers are now outlined with a less contrasting thin grey line rather than a broad white lining. Also, the new black uniforms will clearly complement black pants, as opposed to the odd contrast with grey pants in the past. Detroit will also have the option of pairing the black jerseys with blue pants.
