Tottenham Hotspur have secured the long-term future of one of their most important defenders.
Micky van de Ven has officially signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur, committing his future to the North London club. The announcement was confirmed by Tottenham on August 10, 2026, putting an end to speculation surrounding the defender’s future.

The Netherlands international has developed into a key figure at Spurs since arriving from VfL Wolfsburg in August 2023. He has already made 96 appearances for the club and played a major role in Tottenham’s UEFA Europa League triumph in 2025.
Van de Ven’s new agreement is understood to be a long-term deal, reportedly running until 2031. His decision represents a major boost for head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who considers the 25-year-old centre-back an important part of Tottenham’s future project.
Speaking after signing the contract, Van de Ven expressed his happiness at continuing his journey with Spurs.
“It’s a special moment to sign a new deal and a proud moment for me and my family.”
He also made his feelings for the club clear, saying that he has always loved Tottenham and is excited about what lies ahead.
For Tottenham supporters, the news is a huge statement of intent. Keeping Van de Ven means Spurs retain a defender renowned for his pace, strength and ability to recover quickly in defensive situations.
De Zerbi also praised the Dutchman, describing him as one of the best centre-backs in Europe and highlighting his qualities, mentality and ambition.
With Van de Ven now committed to the club, Tottenham can look toward the future with one of their defensive leaders firmly at the heart of the project.
