Paris Olympics 2024: Djokovic, Nadal, Murray, Swiatek, Gauff out in tennis entry list

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff are the top names on the tennis singles entry list for the Paris Olympics.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) issued the registration list for tennis at the Paris Olympics on Thursday. The list also includes Daniil Medvedev, who will technically compete as a “neutral” rather than representing Russia due to the country’s ongoing conflict in Ukraine and subsequent ban by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Djokovic (Serbia) and Murray (Great Britain) are both 37, while Nadal (Spain) is 38, and all have several Grand Slam championships. Djokovic owns a men’s record 24 major titles, yet he has never won a gold medal at the Olympics.

Nadal, who has 22 men’s Grand Slam titles, won gold in singles in 2008 and doubles in 2016. He skipped Wimbledon to prepare for the Olympics, which will take place on Roland Garros’ clay courts.

Murray, the winner of three major championships, is the only tennis player to win consecutive singles gold medals in the Summer Games. He has stated that he plans to retire after the Paris Olympics.
