In a historic announcement, the New Orleans Saints have partnered with NASA to launch the first-ever football game in space. The game, which is set to take place on November 12, 2025, will feature a team of Saints players, led by legendary quarterback Drew Brees, competing against a team of astronauts and space enthusiasts.
The game will be played on a specially designed, zero-gravity football field aboard the International Space Station. The field, which has been dubbed the “Cosmic Gridiron,” will feature a unique, dome-shaped design that will allow players to move freely in all directions.
“We are thrilled to partner with NASA on this historic event,” said Saints owner Gayle Benson. “The opportunity to play the first-ever football game in space is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we couldn’t pass up.”
Brees, who will be leading the Saints team in the game, expressed his excitement about the opportunity. “I’ve played in some big games before, but this one takes the cake,” he said. “I’m looking forward to suiting up and taking on the challenge of playing in zero gravity.”
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN, with commentary provided by a team of experienced sports broadcasters. Fans will also be able to follow the game on social media using the hashtag #WhoDatInSpace.
Proceeds from the game will benefit the Saints’ charitable foundation, which supports a variety of causes in the New Orleans community.
