Professional wrestler Anthony Henry, known for his dynamic performances in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Ring of Honor (ROH), faced a significant setback in October 2024 due to a severe injury. During a match against Gabe Kidd at an ROH TV taping on October 3, Henry suffered a torn left bicep, an injury that required immediate medical attention.
Henry announced the injury on October 8, 2024, expressing his disappointment and informing fans about his upcoming surgery. He stated, “I, unfortunately, have to announce that I’m out of commission for the foreseeable future. During my match with Gabe Kidd this past Saturday, I tore my left biceps off the bone. Surgery this week, and then I start the road to recovery.”
The surgery was successfully performed on October 14, 2024. Henry shared a post-operative update with his supporters, noting, “Surgery was successful. Now time to recover.” Initially, the expected recovery timeline for such an injury was approximately 7 to 8 months.
Remarkably, Henry’s recovery progressed faster than anticipated. By October 27, 2024, just two weeks post-surgery, he reported significant improvements, stating, “Apparently, I am an anomaly. Only about two weeks post-op, and I am out of the immobilizer and already moving freely with nearly full range of motion. Fingers crossed BUT, I think I can be cleared in another 6 weeks.”
This injury came on the heels of another significant setback earlier in 2024 when Henry suffered a broken jaw in March, sidelining him for approximately eight weeks. Despite these challenges, Henry’s resilience and dedication to his craft have been evident in his swift recoveries and eagerness to return to the ring.
As of March 2025, Henry has been actively participating in light in-ring activities, indicating a promising return to full competition soon. Fans and colleagues alike are optimistic about his comeback, anticipating that The WorkHorsemen, the tag team comprising Henry and JD Drake, will continue to make a significant impact in the wrestling world upon his return.
