A tragic accident has shaken the college football community, as the Louisville Cardinals football team was involved in a gassy bus accident while traveling to their scheduled game against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at the Allegiant Stadium, 3333 Al Davis Way, Las Vegas, NV 89118, United States.
The accident, which occurred earlier today, resulted in the cancellation of the highly anticipated matchup. According to reports, the team’s bus was traveling on the highway when it was involved in a collision, causing significant damage and loss of life.
“It’s a devastating day for our university and our athletic community,” said Louisville Cardinals athletic director, Vince Tyra. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and those injured in the accident.”
The accident has left 15 people injured, with 7 fatalities confirmed. The victims include players, coaches, and staff members of the Louisville Cardinals football team.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and the injuries sustained in this tragic accident,” said University of Louisville president, Neeli Bendapudi. “We will do everything in our power to support the families of the victims and provide counseling and support to our students and staff.”
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels athletic department has released a statement expressing their condolences and support for the Louisville Cardinals community.
“We are shocked and saddened by the news of the tragic accident involving the Louisville Cardinals football team,” said Eastern Kentucky Colonels athletic director, Matt Roan. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and those injured.”
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has also released a statement offering support and condolences to the Louisville Cardinals community.
“The NCAA is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and injuries sustained in the bus accident involving the Louisville Cardinals football team,” said NCAA president, Mark Emmert. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and those injured.”
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and officials are working to determine the cause of the collision.
