He was targeted by the Swans’ first goalkicker Ryan Clarke, Tom Papley and several teammates early in the first quarter – and Pies players weren’t going to let it slide as one of the biggest melees of the season to date erupted in chaotic scenes.
“They are intent on number one kicking goals and two putting Nick Diacos off his game,” Brian Taylor said in commentary for Channel 7.
“(Clarke went) straight to Daicos, his direct opponent … this is all about protecting Nick Daicos.”
Daisy Pearce added: “Collingwood are saying we’re not going to let him cop it, we’re going to give it back.”
