In a monumental development that has sent waves of excitement through the baseball world, the Milwaukee Brewers have officially announced the return of one of their most iconic figures. Robin Yount, Hall of Famer and lifelong Brewer, will rejoin the organization in 2025 as the Chief MLB Officer and Senior Coaching Advisor, marking a powerful homecoming for the franchise’s most beloved legend.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Brewers Chairman and Principal Owner Mark Attanasio, who, speaking on behalf of the Attanasio family, called the move “a dream come true, both for the franchise and for the fans.” In his statement, Attanasio emphasized the immense respect and admiration the organization continues to hold for Yount, not just as a former player, but as a lifelong ambassador of the game.
“This is the best news we could hope for,” said Attanasio during the press conference at American Family Field. “Robin Yount is the Milwaukee Brewers. His legacy is etched into the DNA of this team, and bringing him back into the fold in a leadership and developmental role speaks volumes about our commitment to honoring our past while building for our future.”
A Hero’s Return
Robin Yount spent his entire 20-year Major League Baseball career with the Brewers, debuting as a teenager in 1974 and becoming the face of the franchise through the ’70s and ’80s. Known for his quiet leadership, gritty play, and unmatched consistency, Yount racked up over 3,000 hits, two American League MVP awards (1982, 1989), and was a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 1999.
Now, more than three decades since he last suited up, Yount will take on the newly established position of Chief MLB Officer—a role designed to bridge executive leadership, player development, and league relations. He will also serve as a Senior Coaching Advisor, working closely with the Brewers’ coaching staff, minor league affiliates, and top prospects.
“It’s humbling,” Yount said of his return. “I’ve always considered myself a Brewer. To come back and be part of shaping the future of this organization—while keeping true to the values and spirit that got us here—is something I’m incredibly honored to do.”
Building for the Future
The move comes at a pivotal time for the Brewers. After a 2024 season marked by flashes of brilliance but inconsistent results, the organization is doubling down on its development pipeline and reinvesting in its culture.
