The announcement was made early Thursday morning during a press conference at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where team executives, players, and devoted fans gathered to witness what many are calling “the best news we could hope for.”
Sides, known for her passionate leadership and deep understanding of the game, previously served as the Fever’s head coach, leaving an indelible mark on the team with her tenacity, game-planning prowess, and player development focus. Her return signifies a renewed commitment to building a winning culture in Indiana.
“This team and this city have always felt like home,” Sides said during her emotional welcome-back address. “I’m thrilled to be back and to contribute to this organization in a fresh and meaningful way.”
The Senior Coaching Strategist role is a newly established position designed to bridge data analytics, game film, and on-court execution—areas where Sides has excelled throughout her coaching career. She’ll work closely with current head coach Carlos Knox and the Fever front office to develop strategies, mentor young players, and bring her seasoned perspective to every facet of team operations.
Indiana Fever General Manager Lin Dunn praised Sides’ return, calling it “a massive step forward” in strengthening the franchise’s long-term vision.
“Christie knows what it takes to build a competitive team, and more importantly, she knows this locker room,” said Dunn. “Her leadership is exactly what we need as we push toward playoff contention.”
The Fever, currently in the midst of an exciting WNBA season, have seen major growth from stars like Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, and fans are hopeful that Sides’ return will give the team an extra edge during the final stretch of the season.
Social media erupted with joy following the announcement, with the hashtag #WelcomeBackChristie trending across WNBA circles.
This homecoming signals more than just a staff addition—it’s a powerful reminder of how the Fever are building something special in Indianapolis. With Sides back in the fold, the team’s future looks brighter than ever.
