The rugby league world has been left shattered after reports confirmed that Brisbane Broncos’ star loose forward Patrick Carrigan has died in a devastating car crash late last night. He was 27.
According to preliminary (fictional) police reports, the incident occurred on the M1 Pacific Motorway, just north of Brisbane, as Carrigan was allegedly driving home from a community event organized by the club. Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after 10:45 p.m., but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Carrigan, known for his leadership, humility, and relentless work ethic, had been one of the most respected figures in the NRL both on and off the field. As the current Broncos vice-captain and a Queensland Maroons representative, his impact stretched far beyond the game.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters (fictional quote) released a tearful statement this morning:
“Patrick wasn’t just a player — he was the heartbeat of this club. The locker room, the fans, the whole Broncos family — we’re broken. It’s impossible to put into words what he meant to us.”
Teammates and fans have begun leaving flowers, jerseys, and handwritten messages outside Suncorp Stadium in tribute.
The NRL has also (fictionally) announced a moment of silence to be held before all matches this weekend in honor of Carrigan’s legacy.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been confirmed, and the club has requested privacy for the Carrigan family during this incredibly difficult time.
