Surprisingly:Hansen signs a potential two-year contract with Top club in

Mack Hansen, the dynamic wing who has become a pivotal figure for both Connacht and the Irish national rugby team, has reaffirmed his commitment to Irish rugby by signing a new two-year contract extension. This agreement ensures Hansen will remain with Connacht and the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) until the conclusion of the 2026/27 season.

Since his arrival in Ireland ahead of the 2021/22 season from Australia’s Brumbies, Hansen has made a significant impact. He has amassed 38 appearances for Connacht, showcasing his versatility and flair on the field. His exceptional performances at the provincial level swiftly translated to the international stage, earning him a debut under Ireland head coach Andy Farrell in February 2022. Since then, Hansen has secured 27 caps and crossed the try line 12 times for Ireland.

Reflecting on his journey, Hansen expressed his enthusiasm about extending his tenure in Ireland:

“Since moving to Ireland, I have loved my time and I am delighted to sign this new contract. Playing in Ireland with Connacht means a huge amount to me, and I feel that I have improved because of the coaching and structures here.”

IRFU Performance Director David Humphreys emphasized the significance of retaining a player of Hansen’s caliber:

“As a mainstay of the Ireland and Connacht sides in recent years, securing Mack … seasons is a huge boost for Irish … He is a proven performer, someone … .”

Hansen’s commitment is part of a broader strategy by the IRFU to retain top talent within the country. Notably, Leinster lock Joe McCarthy has also signed a new three-year central contract, reflecting the union’s dedication to maintaining a strong and competitive rugby environment.

As Hansen continues to develop and make his mark, both Connacht and Irish rugby supporters can look forward to witnessing his contributions in the seasons ahead.
