NRL coaching legend Ivan Cleary has announced his retirement as coach of the Penrith Panthers, effective immediately. Cleary, who led the Panthers to their maiden NRL Premiership title in 2021, cited a desire to spend more time with his family as the reason for his decision.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved, but I feel it’s time for me to step aside,” Cleary said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to have coached such a talented group of players.”
