Montreal Canadiens center Nick Suzuki will miss the team’s upcoming match against the Calgary Flames due to a lower-body injury. The news was announced by the team on Wednesday, and Suzuki is expected to be out of the lineup for at least one game.
Suzuki suffered the injury during the Canadiens’ previous game against the Edmonton Oilers. He played only a few shifts in the third period before leaving the game and did not return.
The 23-year-old center has been a key player for the Canadiens this season, scoring 12 goals and adding 22 assists in 55 games. His absence will be felt in the lineup, particularly on the power play, where he has been a regular contributor.
“Nick is a big part of our team, and we’ll miss him,” said Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis. “But we have a deep roster, and we’re confident that other players will step up and fill the void.”
The Canadiens have recalled forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard from the Laval Rocket to take Suzuki’s place in the lineup. Harvey-Pinard has played 10 games for the Canadiens this season, scoring one goal and adding two assists.
The Canadiens will face the Calgary Flames on Thursday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The game will be a crucial matchup for both teams, as they battle for playoff positioning in the Western Conference.
In Suzuki’s absence, the Canadiens will rely on other centers, such as Christian Dvorak and Jake Evans, to take on more responsibility and help the team secure a win against the Flames.
