The Milwaukee Bucks issued a formal statement Tuesday addressing the brief absence of head coach Doc Rivers from recent team activities. The organization clarified that Rivers is temporarily away from the team to attend to a previously scheduled personal matter, emphasizing that the situation is not related to any coaching decisions, team issues, or health concerns.
The team noted that Rivers communicated his plans well in advance, and the coaching staff had already prepared for this short stretch without him. In the interim, assistant coach Joe Prunty will oversee practices and media availability, ensuring continuity in the Bucks’ preparation.
In the statement, the organization expressed full confidence in Rivers and stressed that the temporary change in routine would not disrupt the team’s momentum. Players were informed earlier in the week and have continued regular practice sessions under the guidance of the remaining coaching staff.
Rivers, who took over head-coaching duties during the 2023–24 season, has been central to the Bucks’ strategic adjustments this year. His return is expected before the team’s upcoming homestand, and no further updates are anticipated unless the schedule changes.
The Bucks are set to play next at Fiserv Forum on Friday night, where Rivers is expected to resume his usual sideline role.
