Michelle Manziel, mother of former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel, was arrested on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Kerrville, Texas, for driving while intoxicated (DWI). The Kerrville Police Department detained Michelle, and she was held on a $7,500 bail, which has reportedly been paid.
Kerrville, located about 65 miles northwest of San Antonio, is where Johnny Manziel attended Tivy High School before his celebrated college football career at Texas A&M University. He won the Heisman Trophy as a freshman and later became a first-round NFL draft pick.
The Manziel family has faced legal challenges in the past. Johnny Manziel has been open about his struggles with substance abuse, which affected his professional football career. In a 2023 Netflix documentary, he revealed his battle with bipolar disorder and detailed his use of OxyContin and cocaine following his departure from the NFL in 2015.
Additionally, Johnny’s cousin, Bobby Joe Manziel, was reportedly sentenced to four years in jail for driving while intoxicated.
As of now, there has been no public statement from the Manziel family regarding Michelle’s arrest.
