San Diego State’s 7-foot forward Magoon Gwath was seen on the sideline with a brace on his right knee and crutches at his feet, raising concerns about the severity of his injury. SDSU head coach Brian Dutcher addressed the situation but remained cautious in his assessment.
“Right now, we’re calling it a sprain,” Dutcher said. “That’s what we’re calling it and what it will be until we get back and get an MRI, where we have a better idea of what we’re dealing with.”
A Key Player for SDSU
Gwath has been a dominant force for the Aztecs, making a significant impact on both ends of the court. His performances have drawn national attention, with Utah State coach Jerrod Calhoun recently stating that Gwath “is playing as good as anybody in the country.” Losing him for an extended period would be a major setback for SDSU’s championship aspirations.
What’s Next?
The MRI results will provide more clarity on Gwath’s condition and determine whether the injury is minor or something that could sideline him for a longer period. Until then, the Aztecs will have to prepare for potential lineup adjustments in his absence.
With SDSU in the midst of a crucial stretch of the season, all eyes will be on Gwath’s status as the team awaits further medical evaluations. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
