JUST A MOMENT AGO: Jet-BA2490 transporting the Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s volleyball team fall on snowboarding at Eagle Crest Ski Resort in Juneau, Alaska

Juneau, Alaska — March 28, 2025

In an unexpected turn of events, Jet-BA2490, a private charter jet, experienced a dramatic moment of chaos as it transported the Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s volleyball team to Eagle Crest Ski Resort in Juneau, Alaska. The team, in town for a well-deserved winter break retreat, was preparing to hit the slopes for a fun snowboarding session at the renowned resort when a minor incident occurred.

Sources confirm that the flight landed smoothly earlier this morning, but shortly after disembarking, members of the team, including several star players, found themselves on a slippery and unexpected path—literally. What was meant to be a relaxing day of snowboarding turned into a series of comical tumbles and falls as some team members, unfamiliar with snowboarding, struggled to stay upright.

“I never thought I’d fall that much on the snow,” said libero Kaitlyn Smith with a laugh. “I thought volleyball had the most falls, but this was a whole different level of wipeouts!”

The Cornhuskers, known for their competitive spirit on the court, found humor in the situation, with the team’s chemistry shining as they helped each other up after each slip. Despite the icy conditions, none of the players sustained any serious injuries, and their positive attitude remained undeterred.

Team coach, John Cook, who was present for the adventure, shared his thoughts: “It’s always great to see the team bonding outside of the gym. They’ve been through so much this season, and it’s nice to let them have a little fun, even if they fall a few times along the way.”

The resort’s staff was quick to respond, offering assistance and tips on snowboarding technique to the team. “We were happy to help the Cornhuskers enjoy their time here, even if they needed a little more practice on the slopes,” said Eagle Crest Resort spokesperson Jamie Roberts.

While the snowboarding falls might have been unexpected, the day ended on a high note. The team enjoyed a cozy evening around a bonfire, with hot cocoa in hand, reflecting on their victories on the volleyball court and their newfound love (and respect) for snowboarding.

“I think we’ll stick to volleyball for now,” said outside hitter, Emma Taylor, “but this trip was definitely one for the books. It’s memories like this that bring us closer together.”

As the team prepared to return home, Coach Cook emphasized the importance of team bonding, whether on the court or off. “It’s these moments that help build the kind of relationships we need to succeed in our next match. It’s about supporting each other no matter what challenge we’re facing.”

Despite the falls and tumbles, the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ women’s volleyball team returned to their charter jet, smiling and laughing, already planning their next adventure—this time, perhaps with a bit more snowboarding practice under their belts.
