Huge Agreement: LAKERS SOLD! Owner Jeanie Buss Reaches Deal with Tech Mogul to Sell Iconic NBA Franchise
Los Angeles, CA – In a shocking move, Jeanie Buss, the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, has reached a deal to sell the iconic NBA franchise to tech mogul, Austin Russell.
According to sources close to the deal, Russell, the founder and CEO of Luminar Technologies, has agreed to purchase the Lakers for a record-breaking $7.5 billion.
The sale marks the end of the Buss family’s ownership of the Lakers, which dates back to 1979 when Jerry Buss purchased the team.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished with the Lakers,” Jeanie Buss said in a statement. “But I believe it’s time for a new chapter, and I’m confident that Austin Russell is the right person to lead the team into the future.”
Russell, a lifelong Lakers fan, expressed his excitement about the acquisition. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to own such an iconic franchise,” he said. “I’m committed to building on the Lakers’ legacy and bringing another championship to the city of Los Angeles.”
The sale is expected to be finalized within the next few months, pending approval from the NBA.
