In a powerful act of generosity and compassion, Indiana Fever forward Chloe Bibby has announced she is donating her entire $18.9 million in bonuses and sponsorship earnings to fund a new homeless shelter in Indianapolis. The donation will cover the construction of 150 housing units and 300 shelter beds, offering hope and stability to some of the city’s most vulnerable residents.
During an emotional press conference, Bibby explained the inspiration behind her life-changing gift:
> “I’ve seen the effects of homelessness firsthand growing up, and I knew if I ever had the means, I’d give back in a meaningful way,” she said. “No one deserves to sleep on a sidewalk.”
The initiative, which will partner with local housing organizations, will not only provide safe shelter but also access to food services, counseling, and job training programs aimed at helping people rebuild their lives.
Community leaders praised Bibby’s generosity as historic for the city of Indianapolis. Mayor Joe Hogsett commented: “Chloe Bibby has set an example for what it means to be a true leader on and off the court. This donation will transform lives for generations.”
Her teammates and Fever staff were also moved by the announcement. Star guard Caitlin Clark posted on social media: “Proud to call Chloe my teammate. This is bigger than basketball.”
The project is expected to break ground later this year, with the first phase of units scheduled to open in 2026. Advocates say Bibby’s donation represents one of the largest single private contributions to homelessness solutions in the city’s history.
For Bibby, however, the mission is deeply personal. “Basketball has given me so much,” she said. “But at the end of the day, it’s about what we can do for others. This is my way of giving back.”
Her decision has quickly made headlines across the WNBA and beyond, with fans praising her as not just an athlete, but a humanitarian committed to making real change.
