In a move that’s set to bolster their defense, the Washington Commanders have re-signed veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner to a one-year contract worth up to $9.5 million, with $8 million guaranteed.¹ This deal marks Wagner’s second stint with the Commanders, following a successful 2024 season where he played 99% of snaps.
Wagner, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, brings invaluable experience and leadership to the Commanders’ defense. Last season, he recorded 132 tackles, two sacks, four passes defensed, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 17 games. His impressive performance earned him his 10th Pro Bowl honor.
The 33-year-old linebacker represented himself in the negotiations, according to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Wagner’s return to the Commanders is a significant boost to their defense, which is looking to build on last season’s success.
