
The initiative will directly fund the construction of 150 transitional housing units and provide 300 shelter beds, aiming to create a sustainable and safe haven for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
> “I’ve seen the effects of homelessness firsthand growing up, and I knew if I ever had the means, I’d give back in a meaningful way,” SGA said at a press conference held outside the future site of the project.
“No one deserves to sleep on a sidewalk. This is more than basketball — this is humanity.”
The project, titled “SGA Homes for Hope,” will partner with local nonprofits, housing developers, and mental health providers to offer wraparound support — including counseling, job training, and healthcare services.
Community leaders, teammates, and NBA officials praised the move, calling it a “game-changing moment” not just for Oklahoma City, but for professional sports as a whole.
