A devastating fire broke out on Friday evening, engulfing a fleet of Manac trailers and destroying a load of eight vehicles, dealing a significant blow to the company already facing financial challenges. The incident occurred at a storage yard located on the outskirts of the city, where the trailers were parked and awaiting transportation.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing plumes of thick black smoke billowing into the sky as flames quickly consumed the trailers and the vehicles they were carrying. Firefighters responded promptly to the scene, but the intensity of the blaze made it challenging to contain. It took hours of concerted efforts by multiple fire crews to bring the situation under control.
“The fire was massive and spread rapidly due to the flammable materials present. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, but the damage is extensive,” said Fire Chief Amanda Rivera during a press briefing.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault, but authorities have not ruled out other possibilities, including foul play. An official inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause.
Manac, a leading manufacturer of specialized trailers, has been facing financial difficulties over the past year due to supply chain disruptions and rising production costs. The destruction of these trailers and their cargo is expected to exacerbate the company’s struggles.
“This is a devastating setback for us. The loss of eight vehicles and the trailers represents a significant financial impact,” said a company spokesperson. “We are cooperating fully with investigators to understand what happened and to prevent such incidents in the future.”
Local authorities have cordoned off the area to ensure safety and facilitate the investigation. Residents in nearby neighborhoods were temporarily evacuated as a precaution due to the heavy smoke.
