Sedona, AZ – May 8, 2025
A devastating fire tore through Sedona’s largest and most popular restaurant late Wednesday evening, tragically claiming the lives of three visiting baseball players. The blaze erupted around 9:45 PM at Red Rock Table, a landmark dining destination known for its expansive views and high-end cuisine.
Witnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the roof moments before flames engulfed the structure. Emergency crews arrived within minutes, but the fire had already spread rapidly due to high winds and the restaurant’s large wooden interior.
According to Sedona Fire District Chief Marla Jennings, more than 50 patrons and staff were inside when the fire broke out. Most were safely evacuated, but tragically, three individuals were found deceased in the private dining area.
Authorities have confirmed the victims were members of a visiting minor league baseball team, the Flagstaff Falcons. Their identities are being withheld pending family notification. The team was in town for a regional exhibition game and had booked a team dinner at the restaurant that evening.
“This is a heartbreaking incident,” said Mayor Thomas Caldwell at a press briefing. “We mourn the loss of these young athletes and are offering every support to their families and teammates.”
Fire investigators are on the scene and have not yet determined the cause of the blaze. Early speculation points to a possible kitchen equipment malfunction, though officials caution that it is too soon to draw conclusions.
The restaurant, which had recently undergone renovations, is considered a total loss.
Support and grief counseling are being made available to witnesses and members of the Falcons organization.
