Curry, already regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history, has continued to defy age and expectations. At 37 years old, he has averaged an impressive 29.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game this season, proving he remains one of the league’s most unstoppable offensive forces.
Known for his limitless range, quick release, and unmatched ability to perform under pressure, Curry’s game perfectly reflects the legacy of Jerry West, the NBA icon whose silhouette represents the league.
“This one is special,” Curry said after receiving the award. “Jerry West was a pioneer and one of the greatest to ever play. To be recognized in his name, especially at this stage of my career, is truly humbling. I’m still just trying to inspire the next generation the same way legends inspired me.”
The Jerry West Award, introduced in 2015, was initially dedicated to honoring the best shooting guard in NCAA men’s basketball. In recent years, it has expanded in recognition to celebrate exceptional shooting guard play at the professional level, making Curry’s win both historic and symbolic.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised Curry’s dedication: “Steph’s work ethic, leadership, and love for the game are unmatched. This award is a testament not just to his talent, but to the way he’s impacted basketball around the world.”
With this latest honor, Curry adds to a trophy case that already includes four NBA championships, two MVP awards, and nine All-Star selections. As the Warriors fight to remain contenders in the fiercely competitive Western Conference, Curry’s brilliance continues to light the way.
