In a move that has sent waves of joy and nostalgia through the Toronto Blue Jays community and Major League Baseball at large, former franchise icon José Bautista has officially returned to the Blue Jays organization — this time, not as a player, but as a Senior Coaching Advisor.

The announcement was made earlier today at a press conference held at the iconic Rogers Centre, where fans, media, and team officials gathered to welcome back one of the most beloved figures in Blue Jays history.

> “It’s an incredible honor to be back home in Toronto,” said Bautista, his voice filled with emotion. “This city and this team changed my life, and I’m excited to now give back in a new way — helping shape the next generation of Blue Jays.”

Bautista, who played with the Blue Jays from 2008 to 2017, became a household name thanks to his powerful bat, fiery leadership, and unforgettable bat flip during the 2015 ALDS — a moment still etched in the hearts of baseball fans across the world. During his tenure, he was a 6-time All-Star, 3-time Silver Slugger, and one of the key catalysts in bringing postseason baseball back to Toronto.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider praised the hiring, stating:“There’s no one better to mentor and inspire our current roster than José. He brings not just experience, but a deep understanding of what it means to wear the Blue Jays jersey with pride.”

As Senior Coaching Advisor, Bautista will work closely with both the major league club and the developmental system, focusing on hitting, player motivation, and leadership development.

Fans are already buzzing with excitement as the team continues its playoff push this season, now with one of its greatest legends back in the fold.

Welcome home, José. Toronto never forgot — and now, the legend continues.

Stay tuned for more updates and exclusive interviews from Rogers Centre.
