In an inspiring and unprecedented act of generosity, Nebraska Cornhuskers head football coach Matt Rhule has announced that he is donating the entirety of his $2 million performance bonus and endorsement contract earnings to various charities and organizations that support the homeless across Nebraska and beyond.
Rhule, who joined the Cornhuskers in 2022, has been widely praised for his leadership on and off the field. But this latest gesture has sent shockwaves through the college football world — not for its athletic impact, but for the powerful message it sends about community, compassion, and responsibility.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln Chancellor Rodney Bennett praised Rhule’s decision in a written statement:
“Coach Rhule’s heart is as strong as his playbook. We are deeply proud to have someone leading our football program who sees his role not just in wins and losses, but in lifting up entire communities. This is what leadership looks like.”
Players and staff were also visibly moved. Linebacker Luke Reimer said, “Coach talks a lot about being a good man first, a good football player second. He walks the talk.”
