Ripken, the iconic former shortstop who became synonymous with Baltimore baseball during his 21-season career, has officially been appointed Chief MLB Officer and Senior Coaching Advisor for the Orioles.

Ripken, who retired in 2001, is best known for his incredible 2,632 consecutive games played—a streak that earned him the nickname “Iron Man” and shattered Lou Gehrig’s long-standing record.
