In Loving Memory of Scott Bloomquist: A True Friend, Champion, and Icon

Scott Bloomquist, a beloved figure in the world of Dirt Late Model racing, tragically passed away this morning following a plane crash at his family’s farm. His death has left a profound void in the racing community and among those who knew him as a close friend, a mentor, and a fierce competitor.

At 7:15 AM EST today, Scott, who was well known for his passion for vintage airplanes, was piloting his aircraft when the accident occurred. He had been out flying when the tragic crash took place. Authorities from the local fire department and law enforcement are still on the scene, investigating the cause of the accident.

Scott’s legacy in the world of Dirt Late Model racing is unmatched. He was not only a highly respected driver, but also a cherished friend to many within the racing community. His love for the sport and his fierce determination on the track made him a legend. But beyond the fame, Scott was a man of great character who valued friendship and camaraderie just as much as racing itself.

I was fortunate enough to call Scott a friend. I remember last September, when a group of us took a trip to Pittsburg, PA. We dined at a restaurant on top of Washington Mountain, enjoying spectacular views of the Ohio River, and reminiscing about our shared experiences and the joys of life. Those memories are ones I will forever treasure. It’s moments like those that remind us of the incredible person Scott was, both on and off the track.

Scott leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Ariel, his parents, and his sister. It’s hard to imagine the depth of their grief right now. As a community, we all share in that sorrow. My thoughts are with the Bloomquist family during this incredibly difficult time. I will be heading down to Tennessee to offer my support to them and stand by their side as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

In the coming days, we will remember Scott for the passion he had for racing, his undeniable talent, and the kindness he showed to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will always be a champion, both in our hearts and in the history of the sport. To Ariel, his family, and all who loved him, know that you are not alone during this time of grief. You are in the thoughts and prayers of the Millard Family and the entire racing community.

As we bid farewell to a man who made such an impact, we take comfort in knowing that Scott is now flying high, carried by the wings of an eagle, forever free and forever loved.

God’s speed, Scott Bloomquist. You will never be forgotten.
