Worcestershire CCC head coach Alan Richardson under police investigation over alleged gambling links
Police have launched an investigation into alleged links between Worcestershire County Cricket Club head coach Alan Richardson and sports gambling activities.
Officers confirmed they are examining potential breaches of betting regulations relating to professional cricket, following information received earlier this week.
Worcestershire CCC said in a statement that it is โaware of an ongoing investigationโ and is cooperating fully with authorities. The club added that it would not comment further while inquiries continue.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also acknowledged the situation, stating it has strict anti-corruption and anti-betting rules in place to protect the integrity of the sport.
Alan Richardson, a former cricketer who took on the head coach role at Worcestershire, has not publicly commented on the allegations.
No charges have been brought at this stage, and police emphasised that the investigation is ongoing.
