A competitive afternoon of youth football unfolded at Shirecliffe Training Ground as the Under-21 side of Sheffield Wednesday F.C. battled to a hard-fought 2–2 draw against Sheffield United F.C. in the Professional Development League on Sunday afternoon.
The young Owls showed determination and attacking intent throughout the match, producing an impressive performance in a heated local encounter. Goals from promising talents Rio Shipston and Reece Johnson looked to have put Wednesday in control for large portions of the game.
The match began with high energy from both sides, as each team looked to stamp authority early. Sheffield Wednesday’s youngsters gradually grew into the contest, moving the ball confidently and pressing high up the pitch. Their efforts paid off when Shipston found the back of the net with a well-taken strike, giving the Owls the advantage and rewarding their strong start.
