Now: 13 died instantly with 19 seriously Injured in Framingham car Crash

Two people were seriously injured last night when their car crashed into a steel beam supporting a business sign on Rte. 9, authorities said.

 

 

 

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life cutting tool to free the man who was driving the Oldsmobile sedan when it hit the sign at Cabot House furniture, 220 Worcester Road, shortly after 9 p.m., said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Burns.

 

The injured driver was taken by ambulance to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Burns said. A state police car provided an escort.

 

 

 

A seriously injured woman, who had been a passenger, was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Burns said. Their names and conditions were not available last night.

 

Rescue crews had asked for a medical helicopter, but were told it was grounded because of weather.
