In an inspiring move off the cricket field, West Indies captain and star batter Shai Hope has announced a $5.6 million investment to convert a private residence into a fully equipped shelter for homeless youth. The initiative aims to provide vulnerable young people with safe housing, educational support, and life skills training.
Hope, known for his calm leadership on the pitch, expressed his desire to make a tangible difference in his community. โCricket has given me so much, and now I want to give back,โ Hope said. โEvery young person deserves a chance to thrive, and this shelter is a step toward giving them hope and stability.โ
The project, slated for completion later this year, will include dormitory-style accommodations, a study center, recreational spaces, and mentoring programs. Local organizations and volunteers are expected to partner with Hope in running the facility.
