Netflix has just dropped the trailer for “The Underdog,” a brand-new original sports documentary chronicling the life, legacy, and relentless drive of Milwaukee Brewers icon Robin Yount. Slated for global release on October 20, 2025, the documentary is already generating major buzz among baseball fans and sports documentary enthusiasts alike.
“The Underdog” dives deep into Yount’s extraordinary 20-year career with the Brewers, his early days as an 18-year-old rookie, and his evolution into a Hall of Fame shortstop and center fielder. Featuring never-before-seen footage, exclusive interviews with former teammates, coaches, family, and rivals, the film promises to capture the grit, humility, and loyalty that made Yount a legend — not just in Milwaukee, but across the baseball world.
Directed by Emmy Award-winner Sarah Klein and produced in partnership with MLB Productions, the film also explores the cultural and emotional impact Yount had on the city of Milwaukee, including his role in leading the Brewers to their first-ever World Series appearance in 1982.
Netflix VP of Documentaries, Thomas Graham, said in a statement: “Robin Yount’s story is about more than just baseball. It’s about perseverance, loyalty, and staying true to yourself in an era of change. ‘The Underdog’ is a celebration of everything he stood for — and why he remains a beloved figure to this day.”
Baseball fans can expect rich storytelling, archival highlights, and insight into a player who quietly became one of the most respected figures in the game — all without the flash or controversy that defines many modern stars.
“The Underdog” premieres on October 20, exclusively on Netflix.
