The announcement was made during a special press conference attended by Pacers executives, former teammates, and hundreds of loyal fans. Miller, who spent his entire 18-year NBA career with the Pacers, expressed deep emotion about returning to the team he once carried to multiple playoff runs and a 2000 NBA Finals appearance.
“Indiana isn’t just where I played—it’s home,” Miller stated with a smile. “This role is about giving back to the game, to the team, and to the fans who supported me through every three-pointer, every buzzer-beater, and every battle.”
Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle welcomed the decision, noting that Miller’s experience, leadership, and legendary competitive spirit will be invaluable to the team’s current roster, especially its young core of rising stars.
Pacers fans have flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, nostalgic highlights, and calls for a “Reggie Miller Night” to officially celebrate his return. The Gainbridge Fieldhouse atmosphere is expected to be electric when Miller steps onto the sidelines for the first time in his new role.
With this move, the Pacers hope to inject championship DNA into their locker room and reignite the winning culture that Miller embodied throughout his Hall of Fame career.
