The 10-time NBA All-Star, who last played for the Los Angeles Lakers, will bring his extensive experience, leadership, and passion for the game back to the Knicks organization. Known for his clutch scoring, undeniable charisma, and strong connection with New York City, Anthony’s return marks a powerful homecoming for one of the franchise’s most beloved figures.
“I’ve always said New York is home,” Anthony said in a statement. “This city and this team mean everything to me. I’m honored to step into a new chapter with the Knicks and help guide the next generation of talent.”
Anthony, who played for the Knicks from 2011 to 2017, led the team to multiple playoff appearances and left a lasting impact both on and off the court. Now, as a senior coaching consultant, he will work closely with the Knicks’ player development staff, mentoring rising stars and contributing to game-planning and strategy.
Knicks President Leon Rose expressed excitement about the appointment: “Carmelo’s insight, experience, and deep understanding of the game are invaluable. His return is more than symbolic — it’s a strategic move to elevate our basketball culture and competitiveness.”
Fans flooded social media with celebration and nostalgia, many calling it a “full-circle moment” for the franchise and one of its greatest modern players.
With a new season around the corner, the Knicks now have a familiar face back in the building — not in a jersey, but still making an impact where it matters most.
