BREAKING: Star Kansas City Chiefs WR Arrested Amid Brutal Domestic Charges

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on Friday night in Williamson County, Texas, on charges of assaulting a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation. This incident comes just four weeks after Worthy’s standout rookie season, during which he scored two touchdowns in Super Bowl LIX.

The Chiefs acknowledged awareness of the situation and are in the process of gathering more information. Worthy, 21, hails from Fresno, California, and made a significant impact during his tenure at the University of Texas at Austin. Over three seasons, he earned multiple accolades, including two first-team All-Big 12 honors and the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year award. His collegiate success led to his selection as the 28th overall pick by the Chiefs in the 2024 NFL Draft.

In his debut NFL season, Worthy recorded 638 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns. His performance in Super Bowl LIX was particularly noteworthy, as he became the first former Longhorn to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl, achieving two touchdowns and 157 receiving yards.

This arrest adds to a series of legal issues involving Chiefs wide receivers. Justyn Ross was arrested in October 2023 on charges of domestic battery and property damage, leading to his placement on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, rendering him ineligible to practice or play. Additionally, former Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney was arrested in February 2025 in Georgia on charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and obstruction of emergency calls.

The NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy may subject Worthy to disciplinary action, including potential suspension, pending the outcome of legal proceedings. As this situation develops, the Chiefs and the league will likely monitor it closely to determine appropriate responses.
