Lando Norris, McLaren’s rising star, has expressed support for Lewis Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, made a surprising move from Mercedes to Ferrari, aiming to secure a record-breaking eighth title. Norris commented on the transition, stating, “It’s a cool story for him to go to Ferrari after everything he’s achieved. It’s a cool step.” He added, “A lot of people said maybe it’s not the right thing to do and so forth. But I would probably do the same if I was in his position.”
Reflecting on the upcoming season, Norris emphasized his excitement about competing against Hamilton:
> “When I’m on track, it doesn’t make a difference. He’s a competitor and he’s a guy I want to beat. It’s the same when you’re on track with anyone. There’s always guys you give extra metres to, and there’s guys you know you can race well, and Lewis is one of those guys.”
Norris also acknowledged Hamilton’s determination to prove himself with his new team:
> “I know he’s going to want to go there with a fresh mindset and show everyone that he’s still got the Lewis Hamilton he showed for many, many years prior.”
As the 2025 season approaches, both drivers are gearing up for intense competition. Norris, who secured his first Formula 1 victory at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix and contributed to McLaren’s constructors’ championship win, is considered a strong contender for the drivers’ title. Hamilton, on the other hand, is eager to make a significant impact with Ferrari. Their on-track rivalry is anticipated to be a highlight of the upcoming season.
