The Dallas Cowboys have appointed Ken Dorsey as their new passing game specialist, adding a seasoned coach to their offensive staff. Dorsey, 43, brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the offensive coordinator for both the Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns.
In his most recent role with the Browns during the 2024 season, Dorsey faced significant challenges, including injuries to key players like quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Nick Chubb. These setbacks contributed to the Browns ranking 28th in total offense and last in scoring, leading to Dorsey’s departure in January 2025.
Prior to his tenure in Cleveland, Dorsey was the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Despite a strong start, the Bills’ offense encountered difficulties, resulting in his dismissal midway through the 2023 season.
Dorsey’s coaching career also includes a stint as the quarterbacks coach for the Carolina Panthers from 2013 to 2017, where he worked with quarterback Cam Newton and contributed to the team’s Super Bowl 50 appearance.
In Dallas, Dorsey will collaborate with new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who took over after the departure of Mike McCarthy in January 2025. Schottenheimer is expected to handle play-calling duties, with Dorsey focusing on enhancing the team’s aerial attack.
The Cowboys are aiming to revitalize their offense after a challenging season. With quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb leading the unit, Dorsey’s expertise in developing passing strategies will be pivotal in elevating the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
