Yes, the King of Custom, The Master of Metal-shaping, the Lord of the Lead-sleds, the one and only Gene Winfield is hosting the 11th Annual Winfield-Watson Gathering this coming Oct. 13 (as always) at the Winfield Custom shop located on Sierra Highway just south of Mojave off Backus Road on Sierra Highway.
The annual show is the premier custom car gathering of the year, even eclipsing the Barris Brothers Culver City Car Show in terms of living American Car builder legends. The cream of the crop of the best car builders on Earth show up in the Mojave desert like coming home.
This year will be no exception as the one and only Gene Winfield and company roll out the big show for the truly faithful rodders at his annual bash in the Mojave Desert. Winfield, who is 91 years old, is still teaching the next generation of custom car builders in his famous workshops that he offers at his shop as well as online. He still does interviews, tours, and shows both here in America and abroad, and shows no signs of ever slowing down.
This year’s Winfield Watson Gathering as always runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free for spectators. Exhibitors must register in advance, and that $20 entrance fee gets them a dash plaque and goodie bag (by 7 a.m.). As always there will be food trucks, drinks, merchandise vendors, and live music all day as well as tours of the Winfield Museum and of course the one and only Gene Winfield himself will be on hand autographing items and working in the Winfield booth. There will be a Pinstripers charity auction benefitting Progeria research and the Alzheimer’s Association. Camping is OK for this event.
Over three acres of cars to look over, great music, food, amazing custom cars and of course Gene Winfield himself makes for one very special day.
