Fremantle Dockers star midfielder Caleb Serong has reportedly invested $5.6 million to transform a privately purchased residential property into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth, sparking admiration across the AFL community and beyond.

According to early reports, Serong acquired the property earlier this year and has since been working quietly with community leaders, architects, and youth-support organisations to design a facility aimed at providing safety, stability, and long-term development opportunities for vulnerable young people.

The new shelter—set to open in the coming months—will reportedly include emergency accommodation, mental-health support services, classrooms, counselling rooms, and recreational areas. A spokesperson close to the project described it as “a place designed not just for temporary shelter, but for rebuilding lives.”

Serong, known for his leadership both on and off the field, is expected to make a formal public statement soon. Early comments from community organisations praise the AFL star for taking action during a period where youth homelessness continues to rise nationwide.
